We’re happy to announce that we recently added a translator to our list of Planfix integrations, allowing users like you to dramatically improve communication with your customers. Using this state-of-the-art built-in translator, you can easily and effectively interact with international customers in their native language.

Visually, you can see it’s divided into two parts:

  • The top part is the customer’s message in their language.
  • The bottom part is the automatic translation into the employee’s language.

When an employee goes to reply to a customer, they are presented with two buttons.

  1. The first button automatically translates the message into the customer’s language.
  2. The second button selects the language for the translation.

This means that the steps for the employee are very simple:

  1. Write a comment.
  2. Check the translation language to confirm whether the task involves multilingual communication.
  3. Click the “Translate” button and send the message.

Important! Note that customers only see the top part of the comments, which contains the message in their language.

Features of the Translation Function in Planfix

First, you can activate the translator in Planfix by navigating to the appropriate section: Account Management > Integrations > Translation > Selected translation service.

Depending on the data center where your account is located, the following translation services will be available:

Keep in mind that auto-translation only works for messages from contacts. If this mode is off, Planfix will instead translate messages when an employee clicks the appropriate button:

It’s important to note that translation works based on the contact’s initial language. The translator will automatically determine it from the text of the first comment, but you can choose another language in the contact card if you’d like. This setting is helpful if the first message isn’t informative, is too short to determine the language, or contains only a link. It is also beneficial if the contact is writing in more than one language.

As mentioned, you can also customize the translations for certain language pairs to suit your business needs. These settings are also easily available in the translator integration:

Note that the language pairs are set with a prompt, for which we’ve included the necessary glossary from Planfix terminology. Here is an example of such a prompt:

“You are to translate the given text into Italian and write only the translated text in Italian in response.”

It is also important to remember that setting up language pairs is not mandatory. Everything will still work without them. This feature is best used to refine the translations with the help of a glossary or to adjust the tone of responses.
