Gantt chart
From Planfix
A Gantt chart is a type of visual report available in Planfix. It displays tasks as horizontal bars along a timeline, clearly indicating the start, duration, and end dates. Gantt charts are handy for project planning and deadline tracking.
Here is an example of what planned project schedules look like in a Gantt chart:
The Gantt chart is created based on data from a report and consists of two axes:
- Horizontal axis (X) – A time scale divided by days. It shows when the individual project tasks start and end.
- Vertical axis (Y) – A list of projects, each of which is displayed with the corresponding task schedules.
Grouping and sorting are optional in a Gantt chart, but if you choose to use them, it's important that start and end dates are specified in the report columns used for the chart. Otherwise, the chart cannot accurately represent the duration of the tasks.
Set up
- In the "Report view" section, add columns containing the task data you need to create the Gantt chart.
- Go to the "Charts and graphs" section and add a new chart of the type Gantt chart:
- Configure the following under "Data to display":
- Columns for chart creation:"Task start day", "Task due date"
- Grouping: By project and ascending.
- Sort: By column "Task start date" and ascending.
- Adjust the settings for the chart view under "View":
- Chart height – Specifies the vertical height of the chart in pixels
- Save the chart and run the report to see your Gantt chart.
