Repeated (periodic) tasks are very convenient for use in business processes of the company. For example, with their help it's easy to set up a monthly schedule for working on accounting reports or to remind you about payment for a phone.

The mechanism of recurring tasks

All repetitive tasks are created using the repetition pattern. The template is created automatically, the moment you specify the criteria for the periodicity in the task. Templates for repetitive tasks are located in the section Tasks - Recurring.

Also these templates are highlighted with a special repetition icon. Templates of repetitive tasks can be edited; The changes made to the template will be applied to all tasks created with this template after saving the changes.

When the date and time of the next repetition of the task come, it is automatically created by the repetition pattern. This also means that when you create a repetitive task, it does not appear in the task list, but appears there only when the time specified in the repetition condition occurs.

Specifying the repetition frequency of the task

In order to make a repetitive task, when creating or editing any task, click the icon with the images of the circular arrows:

In the window that appears, specify the conditions when the task will be created:

After saving these parameters, the task acquires the status of a repeating one and on its basis the corresponding template appears in the Task Templates. All subsequent creation of a periodic task will use the parameters specified in this template: duration, end date, check-list, files, etc.

'PLEASE NOTE:' The periodicity parameters specified in the pop-up window specify only the condition (date) when the periodic task should be created. Parameters responsible for the duration and completion date are configured in the corresponding task template.

After a set period of time, PlanFix automatically creates a task similar to this one, but with new deadlines. The executor will be notified of the task creation. This automatically generated task must be completed and completed in the same way as with any other task.

A repetitive task will be created automatically by the system until the time specified within the repetition of the task. If necessary, this process can be disabled before the assigned limit. To do this, just click on the repetition icon in the task list or in the task card and click on the "Do not repeat" link:

Examples of creating periodic tasks

Important

Periodic tasks can be used in template trees, including embedded ones.

The mechanism for creating tasks in such cases is described in this reference article: Periodic tasks in template trees.
