Check how your contacts and companies are set up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every client record in Planfix is a contact, split into <strong>Companies<\/strong>, usually legal entities, and <strong>Contacts<\/strong>, usually individuals. Both are built from templates: the default ones are <strong>Contact template (system)<\/strong> and <strong>Company template (system)<\/strong>, and you can add your own in <strong>Contacts<\/strong> &rarr; <strong>Templates<\/strong> &rarr; <strong>New contact template<\/strong> or <strong>New company template<\/strong>. Each template carries its own fields, so a Suppliers company template can hold product categories that other company cards never show. Start by deciding which company values you want next to each person: region, contract type or account manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Add company fields to the contact template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the step that makes a single filter possible. Both system and custom company fields can be displayed in the contact card: open the contact template for editing and add them with the plus icon, choosing the field type, the name and the access level for employees or customers. Add the fields as columns in a contact filter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the <strong>Contacts<\/strong> section and create or open a filter. <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/Contact_filters\">Contact filters<\/a> work the same way as task filters: in the column settings, click the plus icon and pick the details to display. The list offers standard details plus the custom <strong>Company<\/strong> and <strong>Contact<\/strong> fields you added, which is how one view shows a person&#8217;s phone number beside their company&#8217;s region. Column settings are saved per filter, so each saved view keeps its own set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4. Sort, pin and filter by company values<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click a column name to remove or pin the column, sort it, or filter its values; drag a header to reorder columns. To narrow the list itself, add <strong>Selection parameters<\/strong> to the filter. Each one is numbered automatically, and those numbers go into the <strong>Filter logic<\/strong> block that sets the overall rule for selecting contacts. Click <strong>Filter<\/strong> to apply the view once or <strong>Filter and save<\/strong> to keep it in the left panel, then run bulk actions or an export on your <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/features\/contacts\/\">contact database in Planfix<\/a> straight from the result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Company and contact data stays in sync<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company fields in a contact card are not copies. When the value changes in the company card, the change is transferred to the contact card automatically, and an edit made in the contact card reaches the company card the same way.
