Open the task and choose Add to Planner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the task you want to plan. Inside it, click the <strong>three dots<\/strong> next to the task name and select <strong>Add to Planner<\/strong>. Unlike Microsoft Planner, where you add a task by typing a new name in the box under To do, Add to Planner in Planfix works with a task that already exists, so you don\u2019t have to recreate it. In Planfix, one task can also show up in several planner lists at once, so there\u2019s no need to duplicate it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Select the planner you need<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, choose the planner. The <strong>Planner<\/strong> section can hold any number of planners, each with any number of task lists, so pick the one where you actually organize your work. Your default planner is the one that opens when you click <strong>Planner<\/strong> in the main menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3. Drag the task to the right column<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, drag the task to the appropriate column so it won\u2019t get lost. In Planfix, <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/Moving_tasks_between_lists\">dragging a task to another column<\/a> does more than move a card: the task takes on the selection parameters of the new list. For example, moving it from <strong>In progress<\/strong> to <strong>Ready for review<\/strong> changes its status to Ready for review, and moving it from one employee\u2019s column to another\u2019s switches the assignee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example: handle unplanned tasks, like a sudden request from your manager<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The video\u2019s Priority Control chapter starts with a common case. Sometimes a task appears suddenly: your manager asks for a quick presentation. Don\u2019t delay. Add the task to Planner and place it in the right planner column immediately, so it gets prioritized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Which column is right depends on how your planner is set up, because the column decides what happens to the task. In a list grouped by status, for example, dropping the presentation into a group changes its status to that group\u2019s status, so the task\u2019s data matches where it sits in your plan. When you need an exact order within a column, Planfix also has <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/features\/task-priority\/\">task priorities<\/a> and manual sorting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to use Add to Planner in Planfix: daily task planning scenarios<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For daily task planning, Add to Planner helps whenever new work competes with your plan. Besides sudden requests, the video covers two more situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pick your top task for today:<\/strong> when many new tasks arrive during a normal workday, don\u2019t take them all on at once. Choose the one that matters most today and add it to Planner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Schedule prep work in the planner calendar:<\/strong> if you have an important customer call scheduled and don\u2019t want to forget to prepare, add the prep task to the planner calendar (see <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/Calendar_in_the_Planner\">calendar views in the Planner<\/a>). Moving a task within a task calendar changes its planned completion date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Related: for tasks, notes and ideas you want to record now and plan later, use a <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/Simple_planner_list\">simple list in the Planner<\/a>. It has no conditions. When you\u2019re ready, move the tasks to a standard list to assign them, and they take on that list\u2019s attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FAQ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What changes when I drag tasks between planner columns?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The task takes on the parameters of the new list, as described in Step 3. To add a value instead of replacing it, hold <strong>Ctrl<\/strong> while dragging. This currently works for the <strong>Assignee<\/strong> field and for <strong>Set of values<\/strong> custom fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why doesn\u2019t my task show up in the Planner?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a standard list, a task shows up only while it meets the list\u2019s selection parameters; simple lists have no conditions. Other reasons include grouping by a field the task doesn\u2019t have, automation changing the task, and the 150-task display limit in Table view.
