Change the task status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The status shows the stage of the task, so you can see at a glance how the work is moving. To change it, click the current status in the task card and pick a new one from the list. You can also select a status in a new comment and save it. The standard main statuses are <strong>New<\/strong>, <strong>In progress<\/strong>, <strong>Ready for review<\/strong> and <strong>Complete<\/strong>. Which ones you see depends on your role: assignees only get <strong>In progress<\/strong> and <strong>Ready for review<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Read the description and edit fields<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The description icon holds the main task details: everything needed to complete the task. The description also appears as the first comment. You can edit it at any time, insert Planfix data or format it as a table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fields show who is assigned to the task and who is involved. Click a field to change it, for example, to add or remove an assignee. By default, custom task fields appear in the <strong>Details<\/strong> panel, the task details view that lists every field value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3. Tick off the checklist<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Click the checklist icon to open a mini to-do list inside the task, with each step on its own line. When the assignee completes a step, they tick it off. The assigner immediately sees which steps are done and which remain. Items can be created, edited and ticked off straight from the card; see how <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/features\/checklists\/\">checklists inside a task<\/a> work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4. Read, pin and search task comments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The comments icon opens the conversation and shows the number of unread messages. Too many notifications? Click the flag to mark them all as read at once. Pin essential notes you don\u2019t want to lose. They collect in the <strong>Pinned comments<\/strong> panel, which opens from the push-pin icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a task has run for a while and collected lots of messages, use the search. Enter a word, a phrase or just the first three letters, and Planfix lists the matching comments. Set start and due dates in the calendar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right next to the comment search is the calendar. It shows the task timeline with the start date and the due date. If no dates were set when the task was created, add them here. To <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/How_to_change_a_task%27s_due_date%3F\">change a task\u2019s due date<\/a>, click the current date (or the calendar icon, if none is set). Pick a new date and save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 6. Enter a word, a phrase or just the first three letters of a word. To search all tasks and comments at once, use the search bar in the upper-right corner of Planfix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can an assignee change a task\u2019s due date?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, but the change becomes a reschedule request that Planfix automatically sends to the assigner. If the task is set up without mandatory result checking, the assignee can change the dates directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How do I switch to the old task card view?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planfix updated the task card in 2025. In the old view, the description, checklist, fields and comments are visible at once; in the current one, you switch between them. Open your user card, go to <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Appearance<\/strong> and turn off <strong>New default comment feed view<\/strong>.
