Add a priority field to the task object<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the object card for the tasks you want to organize in the matrix and add a field that defines each task\u2019s priority. For regular Planfix tasks, go to <strong>Account Management<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Types of objects<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Task<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Custom fields<\/strong>. This is how <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/features\/task-priority\/\">custom task priorities<\/a> work in Planfix: every quadrant is one of the field\u2019s values. Add values that match the matrix categories<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose the <strong>List<\/strong> field type and name the field; the video calls it task priority. Set the display to <strong>Buttons<\/strong>, which shows the values in the task as clickable, tag-like buttons. Then add one value per category, for example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Important and urgent;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important and not urgent;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not important and urgent;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not important and not urgent.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Save the settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3. Create a planner and the backlog list<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Create a planner for working with the method: open the <strong>Planner<\/strong> tab, click the <strong>Add<\/strong> icon at the bottom of the planner panel, choose <strong>Planner<\/strong> and enter a name. Then add the first list, of the <strong>Cards<\/strong> type (planner columns are called lists). It serves as the backlog for all tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4. Show only unranked tasks in the backlog<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the list settings, set the name and color. Set up the filters (selection parameters) so that only unranked tasks appear in this list, such as a condition that the priority field is empty. In the card display settings, keep only the fields you need to rank a task, then save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5. Copy the backlog into four quadrant lists<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create the next list quickly, copy the backlog. Open the copy\u2019s settings, change its name and color, and in the selection parameters pick the required value of the priority field, for example, Important and urgent. Repeat for the remaining quadrants. The result works like an Eisenhower Matrix Kanban board: a backlog plus four lists you drag cards between.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example: sorting new tasks on the board<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the video\u2019s demo, new tasks have no priority, so they start in the backlog. To rank one, drag it into a quadrant list. A task moved to another list <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/help\/Moving_tasks_between_lists\">takes on that list\u2019s selection parameters<\/a>, so dropping it into the Important and urgent list sets that value in its priority field. Open the task and select the appropriate value in its priority field. Since each quadrant list selects tasks by one value, the task then shows up in the matching quadrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I create a task directly in a quadrant?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. Type a name in the list\u2019s quick task creation field and press Enter. The new task gets the list\u2019s selection parameters, so it is created with that quadrant\u2019s priority value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can the four quadrants form a 2\u00d72 grid?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes, as in the video\u2019s demo.
