Create a recurring task template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the <strong>Tasks<\/strong> section, select <strong>Recurring<\/strong> in the left panel and click <strong>New task template<\/strong>. Enter a name and fill in the assignee, description and checklist. In the date field, set a duration from the creation date, for example, one day, so Planfix calculates the due date of each new task automatically. Any regular task can become recurring too: click <strong>Repeat<\/strong> while creating or editing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Set the recurrence rule<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Open the template\u2019s additional parameters and click <strong>Repeat<\/strong>, the circular-arrows icon. In the recurrence settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>choose the frequency, for example, every day, week or month;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pick the day, such as specific weekdays or the first business day;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set the time when the task is created;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>set the period during which the rule runs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3. Manage the recurrence template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After you save, the template appears under <strong>Tasks<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Recurring<\/strong>. It stores the parameters for future tasks, including name, assignees, description, duration, checklist and files. When the recurrence period ends, the template moves to the recycle bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the template you can create tasks, add subtask templates, edit, copy, print or delete it, and view the tasks created from it. Click the recurrence icon to see the rule and the date of the next repetition, change it or stop the recurrence. In the <strong>Recurring<\/strong> list, you can edit or delete several templates in bulk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 4. Forecast workload in the calendar<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All current and future recurring tasks appear in the calendar, even those not yet created. Open the <a href=\"https:\/\/planfix.com\/features\/planner\/\">calendar view in the Planfix planner<\/a> to see the upcoming workload and distribute work while planning. Each task is created on its recurrence date, and the assignee is notified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 5. Add recurring tasks to project templates<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To automate a whole process, add recurring tasks to a project template; in its task form, the same tile is labeled <strong>Recur<\/strong>. When a project is created from the template, regular tasks appear immediately and recurring ones follow their schedule. In the <strong>Template settings<\/strong> block, set <strong>Recurring tasks<\/strong> to <strong>Project-specific<\/strong> or <strong>Controlled by project template<\/strong>; with the second option, a schedule change applies to existing and new projects. Since the due date counts from the creation date, each month\u2019s report gets its deadline automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monthly rules can also count from the end of the month, for example, the last Friday or the last day of every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples of recurring tasks: who this is for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recurring task in project management or operations usually follows a clear rule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Finance and management:<\/strong> a monthly report on the first business day, with its checklist in the template.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sales and accounting:<\/strong> one invoice task per client, for example, on the 5th of each month; edit the amount in the template, and the next task uses it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Team leads:<\/strong> a month-end meetup on the last Friday at 4:00 p.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Office managers:<\/strong> workplace cleanup every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training:<\/strong> a marketing course task created the day after the previous one is completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FAQ<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can a task be created automatically on the first business day of the month?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes. Set a monthly rule for the first business day and a creation time, for example, 9:00 a.m. Planfix then creates the task on that schedule every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do changes to a recurrence template affect tasks that already exist?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tasks that already exist keep their data; edits apply to future tasks.
